According to this article, Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius was charged with attempted murder. Pistorius admitted to shooting his girlfriend dead. His girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, 29, was shot in the bathroom of their home. Pistorius claims that he mistook her for an intruder, and will not admit to a charge of premeditated murder. The 26 year old says the two had gone to bed on February 13 and awoke early in the morning to what he thought was an intruder. He testified that he grabbed his 9mm pistol and shot into the door of the bathroom, realizing that his girlfriend was brutally injured. Kenny Oldwage, Pistorius's lawyer, said "We're very pleased with today." The hearing was scheduled for Thursday morning when a decision about his bail will be made.
