Florida ‘Python Challenge’ concludes with just 68 snakes caught

68 Burmese pythons were captured during the competition
The challenge started Jan. 12, 2013 and ended on Feb 10 at midnight.

According to this article, the first public snake hunt was held in the Florida Everglades yesterday. It has come to a close. The "Python Challenge" captured 68 Burmese pythons during the competition, which lasted a month. Official say that the hunt will prevent thousands of pythons to be born in the Everglades to regulate the population. The end of the competition was celebrated at Zoo Miami Saturday, to award the hunters. Ruben Ramirez and his team were awared with $1,500 for capturing the most pythons. Officials said this won't be the last time the public hears of the "Python Challenge," and that they "definitely anticipate to do something of this nature again."
